Young planners developing their careers at the Department
of Planning and Infrastructure
The Department of Planning and Infrastructure is Australia's leading planning organisation. We work in partnership with other NSW Government agencies and local government to plan for and manage the State's future growth.
When advertising positions, the department typically seeks appropriately skilled people with a range of professional backgrounds, including expertise in:
- land use and/or environmental planning
- environmental assessment
- project/infrastructure appraisals
- urban design
- architecture
- engineering
- economics; or
- related disciplines
We provide a supportive work environment, flexible working conditions, an extensive learning and development program, and a competitive remuneration package. As an equal opportunity employer, we also provide specific workplace programs supporting diversity and equal employment opportunities for women, disabled people and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
We welcome people who are highly motivated, with proven analytical skills and problem solving capabilities; who can drive outcomes and communicate at all levels and with stakeholders.

The department recognises that it has an important strategic and regulatory role to create a sustainable future for NSW, and can also contribute to a sustainable future by the way we conduct our affairs.
