Councils play a central role in delivering faster housing approvals. To recognise council achievements towards innovation, customer service and assessment efficiency, a series of awards were presented to high achieving councils on behalf of the NSW Premier, Planning Institute of Australia NSW (PIA NSW) and Local Government NSW (LGNSW).
The Local Government NSW Planning Awards were sponsored by the Department of Planning and Environment and presented by Minister for Planning Anthony Roberts on 24 October 2017. The awards recognised individuals and councils who demonstrated excellence in planning and development services.
The winners each received a monetary amount to put towards planning related training and education an institute of their choice.
The LGNSW awards will be held again in 2018.
