The Sydney Football Stadium (commercially known as the Allianz Stadium) is located at Moore Park Sydney. The site is administered by the Sydney Cricket Ground Trust and is located next to the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Infrastructure NSW, on behalf of the NSW Government, lodged a State Significant Development application for the redevelopment of the Sydney Football Stadium with Department of Planning and Environment. The application includes a concept proposal for the development of a new stadium, and consent approval for stage 1 demolition works.
The Department of Planning and Environment plays an important role in assessing major projects in NSW, including State Significant Development (SSD) applications.
The Sydney Football Stadium redevelopment project is classified as SSD under the State Environmental Planning Policy (State and Regional Development) 2011, because it involves development for the purpose of a “recreation facility (major)” with a capital investment value (CIV) of more than $30 million.
Public exhibition of the proposal closed on 11 July 2018. The Department has received the applicant's Response to Submissions (RtS) document, which is now publicly available.

The concept proposal and stage 1 works will be assessed at the same time.
Following the assessment of the Concept Proposal and Stage 1 applications, Infrastructure NSW proposes to lodge a future development application to include detailed design of a new stadium, as well as the construction details, construction timelines and operational details.
Any future application will be lodged, exhibited and assessed having regards to the outcomes of the Department’s assessment of the concept development application.
