The NSW Planning Assessment Commission (the Commission) was constituted and began operations on 3 November 2008, as part of the NSW Government’s planning reforms.
The Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act) details the functions of the Commission which includes the determination of project applications, when those matters are delegated to it by the Minister for Planning.

Another function of the Commission is to provide advice to the Minister on a range of planning and development matters, as defined under the section 23D of the EP&A Act.
