The Department has published standards for the preparation and submission of LEP maps in electronic format. These will enable all LEP maps to be made available online after the local plan is made, using a common template.
Standard technical requirements for LEP Maps
Standard technical requirements have been published for the preparation of maps that form part of LEPs. The standards enable all LEP maps to be made available online after the local plan is made. The mapping requirements specify colours, lines, symbols, map-naming protocols and electronic file creation requirements.
Data requirements
GIS data is requested for all submissions by councils of local environmental plans LEP (at both draft and final stages) to the Department. The Department has developed a standard schema for LEP data. The objective is to create efficiencies by removing duplication in the preparation of LEP data across the State. This document specifies standard table structures as well as procedures for supplying data, file standards and naming conventions.
The Department has also prepared guidance on GIS data requirements for maps prepared by councils seeking exclusions and variations in relation to State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Development Codes) 2008.
Map templates
To assist councils, LEP map template files are provided below for some commonly used Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
Note: WinZip, a free software program [www.winzip.com] has been used to compress these files.
The GIS data for the suggested map grids is available online from the Community Access to Natural Resources Information (CANRI) website: http://canri.nsw.gov.au/download.
