We are working with Campbelltown City Council to support the Campbelltown-Macarthur Regional City through urban renewal, land release and new infrastructure.

This includes planning for new homes, jobs, parks and services for the surrounding communities.

The Greater Macarthur Priority Growth Area will focus on the Campbelltown-Macarthur Regional City Centre and will coordinate land use and infrastructure planning for:

  • urban renewal around seven train station precincts from Glenfield to Macarthur
  • new land release areas of Menangle Park and Mount Gilead.

We recently consulted on proposals to establish the Greater Macarthur Priority Growth Area, including the proposed boundary. Thank you to everyone who attended the community drop-in session and put in a submission. We are in the process of reviewing submissions and will keep you updated.

Background

In 2015 we released draft plans for precincts around the seven rail stations from Glenfield to Macarthur. We also released plans for new land release including Mount Gilead, Menangle Park and a new town in Wilton.

We listened to feedback from communities, agencies and are currently adapting our strategy for the delivery phase.

The new Priority Growth Area is expected to provide up to 33,000 new homes and 30,000 new local jobs within easy access to homes.

West Appin has also been included within the proposed growth area boundary to acknowledge its long-term capacity for housing supply. Large scale land release at West Appin is not likely to be required in the short term. However, an accelerated rezoning could occur if demand for homes increases and the private sector makes the necessary supporting infrastructure commitments.
