Government’s investment in transport networks

  • $8.3 billion Sydney Metro Northwest
    • Sydney Metro Northwest is now under construction and will open in 2019 with a metro train every five minutes in the peak
    • Cudgegong Station, the final stop on the Sydney Metro Northwest railway line, is under construction.   

  • Schofields Road upgrade*
    • Stage 1, between Windsor Road and Tallawong Road, completed in June 2014
    • Stage 2, between Tallawong Road and Veron Road, currently under construction
    • Stage 3, between Veron Road and Richmond Road, currently in planning 

  • Richmond Road upgrade 
    • Stage 1, between Bells Creek and Townson Road, completed July 2014
    • Stage 2,  NSW Government provided $56 million and $40 million from the Housing Acceleration Fund for the upgrade between north of Townson Road and north of Garfield Road West.  This is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in 2016
    • Stage 3, between Bells Creek (north of Garfield Road) and the South Creek floodplain at Marsden Park, currently under detailed design

Coordination of infrastructure including grants to councils

More than $65 million in funding under the Local Infrastructure Growth Scheme was provided to Blacktown and The Hills Councils from the 2013-14 State Budget. 

Housing Acceleration Fund money has also been provided to infrastructure providers, such as Sydney Water, to support housing growth, including:

  • $20m on Cattai Creek wastewater carrier (North Kellyville) 
  • $17m on First Ponds Creek wastewater carrier (Alex Ave and Riverstone)
