We are working with local councils, agencies and communities to help provide new homes in the north west of Sydney that are close to jobs, parks, schools and services.

The Department worked closely with Blacktown City Council, stakeholders and the community to take a coordinated approach to planning for more jobs, homes and essential infrastructure to help meet community needs in the North West Growth Area.

Releasing land for housing means Sydneysiders will have access to a range of homes that suit different needs, budgets and lifestyle choices. It also helps to place downward pressure on housing prices.

Marsden Park Industrial will be a major economic foundation for the North West Growth Area, providing more homes close to amenities and more local jobs for the growing community. It is anticipated that Marsden Park Industrial will provide up to 10,000 new jobs for the area.

Precinct plan

Following extensive consultation, the draft plan was finalised in November 2010 and new planning controls were introduced to enable urban development. For more information please refer to the final planning documents below.

Marsden Park Industrial was rezoned under the Government Precinct Acceleration Protocol which allows planning and development to proceed earlier than proposed under the Government’s program, provided there is no additional cost to taxpayers.

The amended State Environmental Planning Policy (Sydney Region Growth Centres) 2006 and maps are available on the NSW legislation website.

Updates and changes

We exhibited minor changes to the Marsden Park Industrial Precinct Plan so that land in the precinct can be used more efficiently. These changes would realign a bus transport corridor and refine the drainage requirements of part of the precinct. Other minor changes were also proposed as a result of these amendments. These amendments were exhibited between 1 November and 15 November 2016. For more information please refer to the Finalisation Report. To see the proposed changes or to make a submission click here. For more information about zoning and current planning controls, please contact Blacktown City Council on (02) 9839 6000.
