Waterloo is set to become even more vibrant and diverse through a NSW Government urban renewal program that will deliver new homes, shops, major transport services, community facilities, parks, and open spaces over the next 20 years.
The 20-hectare precinct under investigation is located just over 3km south of Sydney CBD and includes a large area of government-owned land, including the Waterloo Metro Quarter and the Waterloo Estate. The Minister for Planning has determined that the area is of State planning significance and is now being investigated for rezoning through the State Significant Precinct process.
NSW Government agencies are working together in Waterloo on projects that are integrated, but delivered separately. Two separate State Significant Precinct Studies will be prepared by UrbanGrowth NSW Development Corporation, in cooperation with Land and Housing Corporation and Sydney Metro. They will be submitted to the Department of Planning and Environment for assessment with assistance from the City of Sydney.
The Waterloo Estate is scheduled for renewal under the Communities Plus program.Find out more about Waterloo Estate
