Metropolitan strategy
Transport is a critical element of City of Cities: A Plan for Sydney's Future (NSW Government 2005), which provides a broad framework for the sustainable growth and development of Sydney over the next 25 years.
Integrating land use and transport
The Integrated Land Use and Transport (ILUT) package (DUAP 2001) provides a framework for State government agencies, councils and developers to integrate land use and transport planning at the regional and local levels. The policy package consists of five documents:

Studies and reports
F6 Corridor - public transport use assessment
In 2003, the then Department of Transport and the Roads and Traffic Authority jointly commissioned the F6 Corridor Public Transport Use Assessment study. The Draft Final Report, prepared by consultants Parsons Brinckerhoff is a technical assessment of public transport options for the corridor and does not represent Government policy. The Department of Planning released the report in response to public interest.
The NSW Government has decided that the F6 Corridor (which has been in place since 1951) be retained to provide capacity for possible future transport use and/or open space. Such uses could include a road, a bus way, a cycleway, light rail and/or heavy rail. The Government, however, has no immediate plans for any transport project in the F6 Corridor.
As stated in the Metropolitan Strategy City of cities: a plan for Sydney's future (2005) and State Infrastructure Strategy (2006), the NSW Government will investigate potential future uses of the F6 Corridor. The F6 Corridor currently traverses 15 suburbs from St Peters in the inner city of Sydney south to the Royal National Park at Loftus.
