Funding programs

The Department funds a variety of community-based projects. Each program is used to implement planning priorities we have identified in consultation with the community and contributes to lifestyle quality and social equity in NSW.

The Priority Infrastructure Fund has been established as a transitional measure for 2010/11 and 2011/12 to assist NSW councils to fund public amenities and public services.

The NSW Local Infrastructure Fund is an 'interest free' loan scheme for local councils to bring forward infrastructure projects that are delayed due to a lack of funding.

The Metropolitan Greenspace Program is a partnership initiative between State and local government to support and enhance Sydney's greenspace.

Planning Reform Fund supports the development and implementation of reforms to the planning system.

The LEP Acceleration Fund will provide $10 million to local councils over two years to assist in the delivery of new council-wide local environmental plans (LEPs).

Sharing Sydney Harbour Access Program allocates grants to councils, registered clubs and state agencies to assist with the implementation of capital works projects that improve public access to and along the foreshores of Sydney Harbour and its tributaries for walking, cycling and recreational boating.

NSW Coastline Cycleway Grants Program provides grants to non-metropolitan coastal Councils to develop and construct sections of the defined NSW Coastline Cycleway route.

The Coastal Lands Protection Scheme is used to bring significant coastal lands into public ownership and provides for their long term management and care.
