Register of major projects

The Department of Planning assesses major projects that require the approval of the Minister for Planning. The assessment process for the following project is in accordance with the Part 3A of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.

Project: Gas-Fired Power Station and Gas Pipeline, Wellington (MP 06_0315)


Proponent: ERM Power Pty Ltd
Description: Construction and operation of a 600-megawatt gas-fired peaking power station near Wellington and an approximately 100-kilometre long natural gas pipeline to connect the power station with the existing Central West Gas Pipeline near Alectown, north of Parkes. The project includes ancillary works and facilities, including connection to the electricity transmission network and a natural gas compressor station
Location: Lot 101 on DP 606457, Goolma Road, Wellington (power station) and land generally between Wellington and Alectown, passing south of Arthurville, north of Yeoval, south of Obley, through Goobang National Park at Peak Hill Road, north of Alectown and terminating at the Central West Gas Pipeline neat the Parkes-Narromine railway line
