The Demand Management and Planning Project (DMPP) was established by the State Government to explore alternatives to traditional engineering solutions for electrical demand growth in inner Sydney .
Millions of dollars are spent each year increasing the capacity of the electricity network, but much of this extra capacity is rarely used with peak demand occurring only for short periods during extremely hot or cold days.
By looking for innovative ways of managing peak demand, utilities can invest more money in the parts of their networks which are used everyday to provide customers with a safe and reliable power supply.
The Demand Management Process involves investigating, developing and implementing demand management projects and validating these findings.
