Investigation Programs
The DMPP has been set up to determine how much opportunity for demand reduction is available in inner metropolitan Sydney and how much it costs to deliver these opportunities through the development of individual customer business cases at approximately 1000 major energy using sites.
Program outcomes include:
- St George/ Sutherland Investigations summary report for 140 significant sites (PDF file)
- Power Factor Correction Assessment for the inner metropolitan region of Sydney (PDF file 1.4 Mb)
- Multi Unit Residential Buildings Energy and Peak Demand Complete Study (PDF file)
- Multi Unit Residential Buildings Energy and Peak Demand Article (PDF file)
- Demand Management Consolidation Report – What is happening elsewhere? (PDF file, 2.2 Mb)
- CBD Investigation Report – Roll up of the three consultants’ investigations for the Sydney CBD (PDF File)
Demonstration Programs
Demonstration programs shall validate and report the findings of the investigative works by testing the market place with incentives to ensure that consumers are targeted through a range of demand reduction programs that showcase these activities, technically and commercially.
The DMPP is working closely with customers so that the best results are achieved to accurately report all findings. The results will be monitored and verified in the field giving DMPP robust information that can be transferred to other parts of the community.
Program outcomes and case studies are displayed below:
- Energy Efficiency
- DMPP is a major sponsor for the Warren Centre’s program ‘Low Energy High Rise’ aiming to identify practical means to improve the energy performance of Australia’s stock of high rise buildings.
- Standby Generation
- St George Feasibility Study for use of Standby Generation for network relief (PDF file)
- Rocks Feasibility Study for use of Standby Generation for network relief (PDF file)
- Standby Generation network relief approval process – Sydney City Council (PDF file 11 Mb)
- Standby Generation network relief approval process – Kogarah (PDF file)
- Photovoltaic
- Photovoltaic technical review at Newington (PDF file 5 Mb)
- Demographic survey on Newington residents with (PDF file)
- Kogarah City Council photovoltaic report (PDF file)
- PV in Australia 2005 – Market and Performance (PDF File)
- Financial Analysis of Photo Voltaic Solar Technology at Newington Homebush – Final Report (PDF File)
This report not only looks at the financial aspects of PV technology at Homebush but also rolls up the technical and demographic elements to summarise the results in a consolidated report. - Residential
- Demand reduction program through a range of energy efficiency initiatives at Manly and Randwick Council
- Manly Council Demand Reduction program – Website for Manly Council’s‘Residential Energy Efficiency Program’ under construction.
- Randwick Council Demand Reduction program – Website for Randwick Council’s ‘Residential Energy Makeover’ Program under construction
- Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning
- Innovative HVAC Report (PDF File): A thorough synopsis recounting the process by which the DMPP initiated an Innovative HVAC program and provided funding assistance to subsidise the market place for demonstration projects using HVAC technologies. Through this program the DMPP aims to facilitate the implementation of leading edge technology for significant demand reduction in the commercial sector through the use of HVAC systems.
- Load Shifting
Project Findings Summary Reports
The success of any program is determined by testing the results to ensure that what was predicted is actually delivered. This is the most challenging component and integral to the success of the program, yet it is often overlooked. The DMPP maintains a strong focus on this portion of the model to ensure that the results are real and can withstand scrutiny.
