The Building Professionals Board works to improve the quality of building construction and subdivision in NSW by regulating and educating building and subdivision certifiers.
It is an authority that was established under the Building Professionals Act 2005 (the Act) on 25 January 2007.
The role of the Board is to accredit certifiers to issue construction, occupation, subdivision, strata, compliance and complying development certificates under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act), Strata Schemes (Freehold Development) Act 1973 and Strata Schemes (Leasehold Development) Act 1986. The Board also investigates complaints against accredited certifiers and audits accredited certifiers and councils in their certification role.
