Media Release - Minister's Office Sydney: 19 October, 2009 STATEMENT FROM KRISTINA KENEALLY – HUNTLEE NEW TOWN DECISION The NSW Government has decided not to contest a case in the Land and Environment Court because the court has already overturned decisions that included land swapping agreements. The decision not to contest the court action on the Huntlee New Town development near Branxton was based on minimising unnecessary litigation and public expense. In August the Land & Environment Court found the approval for a concept plan at Catherine Hill Bay and project application at Gwandalan to be invalid. Planning Minister, Kristina Keneally, said that the Government was committed to a common sense approach after the Court’s previous rulings. “Should the landowner lodge a new application to have the land rezoned, the proposal will be assessed within the framework of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act,” Ms Keneally said.
