EXTENSION OF EXHIBITION PERIOD FOR PACIFIC HIGHWAY UPGRADE - TINTENBAR TO EWINGSDALE

The NSW Department of Planning is currently assessing the application for the upgrade of the Pacific Highway between Tintenbar and Ewingsdale in Northern NSW.

This project will provide a motorway standard link between the northern end of the approved Ballina Bypass to the existing dual carriageway at Ewingsdale to the west of Byron Bay (a distance of approximately 17 kilometres).

The Executive Director of the Department, Mr Chris Wilson said: “Following requests from Byron Shire Council and interested members of the public, and after discussions with the RTA, the Department has agreed to extend the exhibition period to enable more detailed consideration of the Environmental Assessment prior to submissions being made.”

The NSW Department of Planning has agreed to extend the exhibition period until Friday, 31 October 2008.

The Environmental Assessment for the proposal will continue to be available for download from the Department of Planning’s website (www.planning.nsw.gov.au) and the RTA’s website (www.rta.nsw.gov.au) or viewed at the advertised locations, being:

• Department of Planning, Information Centre, 23-33 Bridge Street, Sydney;

• NSW Roads and Traffic Authority (Head Office), Ground Floor, Centennial Plaza, 260 Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills;

• NSW Roads and Traffic Authority (Pacific Highway Office), 21 Prince Street, Grafton;

• Nature Conservation Council of NSW, Level 2, 301 Kent Street, Sydney;

• Ballina Motor Registry, Ballina West Shopping Centre, Ballina;

• Lismore Motor Registry, Carrington Street, Lismore;

• Ballina Shire Council, Corner of Cherry and Tamar Streets, Ballina; and

• Byron Shire Council, 70-90 Station Street, Mullumbimby.
