Minister's and Mayor's Messages

The NSW Minister for Planning, the Hon. Frank Sartor MP, and the Mayor for Penrith, Pat Sheehy have each delivered an introductory message on the draft plan to grow and revitalise the Penrith city centre.


Highlights of the Penrith City Centre Plan include:
  • 10,000 new jobs
  • 10,000 new residents
  • Increased floor space in the city centre
  • Increasing heights within the city centre
  • A new city park
  • Four new planning documents
  • Funding for civic improvement
  • Identification of key sites for architectural competitions
  • Reconnecting the city to the River
  • Protecting views to the Blue Mountains

Process + Timeline

The process for preparing the plan includes a period of exhibition and invitation for public comment. It is anticipated that the Penrith City Centre Plan will come into effect in early 2007.
