As Chief Planner for the NSW Department of Planning and Environment, Gary White is responsible for overseeing projects that will deliver an easier and more strategic focussed planning system. Gary’s expert advice on projects help our communities in the long term.
With 40 years planning experience in both the private sector and Government, Gary has held some of the most senior planning positions in NSW and Queensland.
Gary is recognised nationally for his contribution to planning and recently the Planning Institute of Australia awarded Gary with the ‘NSW Planner of the Year 2017’ and the ‘National Planner of the Year 2018’. Both awards acknowledge his outstanding achievements in the planning profession.
Nathan is leading the policy team that is responsible for the significant updates to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act) that came into force on 1 March 2018. He continues to work extensively with government and non-government stakeholders to operationalise the major new elements of these changes whose implementation has been staged, including local strategic planning statements and community participation plans. Nathan also helped to recently deliver and operationalise the legislation that made independent hearing and assessment panels mandatory for Greater Sydney Region and Wollongong.
