Our department is developing programs to get the best social, environmental and economic outcomes for the people of New South Wales. Whether it is by improving public spaces, creating affordable housing or protecting Aboriginal cultural heritage, we are meeting the needs of our growing population in smart and sustainable ways.
Much of the work we do is in collaboration with local communities and councils. By supporting councils to develop infrastructure for everyone, we are helping them build thriving and resilient communities. For some of our programs, such as those in Greener Places. Great public spaces, we are looking for people to get involved at an individual level too.

Dark Sky
We have teamed up with Siding Spring Observatory and Dubbo School of Distant Education to help protect the dark night sky from light pollution.
