On 7 December 2018, the Department issued a fire safety order to the owner of the building at 17 Sturt Street, Telopea, to remove all the external wall panels on the building consisting of aluminium composite panels (ACP). ACP are combustible and pose a fire safety risk. The ACP on the subject building are located at the rear northern façade spanning 5 storeys and as window sills. The owner is required to replace the panels with a non-combustible product and provide an inspection report issued by an accredited certifier, certifying that the replacement panels and method of installation comply with the Building Code of Australia. The owner of the building has been working with the Department to address this issue, ensuring the safety of occupants is maintained. The owner has confirmed that the interim measures are in place to mitigate the fire safety risk until the rectification works are complete.

UPDATE: December 2019 – the works required under this order have now been completed
