The F6 Extension Motorway program of works is a proposed multi-lane road link extending from the New M5 Motorway at Arncliffe to the Princes Highway at Loftus. The program will be delivered in three stages. The first stage is known as the F6 Extension Stage 1 and comprises an approximately four-kilometre continuous twin tunnel (north and south) which will connect the New M5 at Arncliffe to President Avenue at Kogarah.

The F6 Extension Stage 1 is identified as State Significant Infrastructure (SSI). For further information on the SSI assessment process please visit our Major Projects website. The project has also been declared Critical State significant infrastructure (CSSI). CSSI proposals are determined by the Minister for Planning and Public Spaces.

Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) previously lodged an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Stage 1. The EIS was on public exhibition during November – December 2018.

Preferred Infrastructure Report on exhibition

In response to feedback received during the 2018 exhibition and further detailed design, RMS has revised the proposal to include:

  • changes to the operational access and egress arrangements to and from President Avenue at Princes Highway, Lachal Avenue, Traynor Avenue, West Botany Street, Civic Avenue, and Cross Street, Kogarah and O’Connell Street, Monterey; and
  • extension of the proposed shared cycle and pedestrian pathway from President Avenue through Scarborough Park North to Chuter Avenue/O’Connell Street, south of Robinson Street, at Monterey.

The Proponent has documented the proposed amendments and associated impacts in the form of a Preferred Infrastructure Report (PIR). The PIR was on public exhibition during April - May 2019.
