Billinudgel Property has lodged a State significant development application for the permanent use of the North Byron Parklands site. This follows on from the completion of a trial period and includes the continued use of existing site infrastructure as well as the development of additional infrastructure to support the cultural events site. A concurrent modification request has been submitted for the concept plan approval that applies to the site to reflect the proposed permanent use.

The cultural events site can be used for cultural, educational, and outdoor events including music festivals, jamborees, camping conferences and minor community events, such as school cross country runs. The site already hosts the Splendour in the Grass Festival (held during July each year) and the Falls Festival (held over the New Year’s period).

The Concept Plan incorporates:

  • approval for the site to be used for cultural, educational and outdoor events with associated camping
  • a cultural centre
  • a conference centre and associated accommodation
  • camping infrastructure and facilities
  • a comprehensive vegetation management plan.

Submissions closed on 16 February 2018 and feedback is being considered.
