The Sydney Football Stadium (commercially known as the Allianz Stadium) is located at Moore Park Sydney. The site is administered by the Sydney Cricket Ground Trust and is located next to the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Infrastructure NSW, on behalf of the NSW Government, lodged a State Significant Development application for the redevelopment of the Sydney Football Stadium with Department of Planning and Environment.
The first stage of the redevelopment of the Sydney Football Stadium, involving the demolition and concept proposal for a new stadium, has been approved subject to strict conditions.
The Department has worked closely with the local community, government agencies, and key stakeholders during the assessment process.
The redevelopment project is classified as SSD under the State Environmental Planning Policy (State and Regional Development) 2011, because it involves development for the purpose of a “recreation facility (major)” with a capital investment value (CIV) of more than $30 million.
A full list of the conditions of consent is available on our Major Projects website.
Infrastructure NSW have lodged a request with the Department for the Planning Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs) to be issued for their Stage 2 development application.
Once the Department has issued the SEARs to Infrastructure NSW they must prepare and submit an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Stage 2 development application.
The concept approval also sets out requirements for the Stage 2 development which will need to be met.
The Stage 2 development application for the Sydney Football Stadium will include the detailed design of a new stadium, as well as the construction details, construction timelines and operational details.
This application and EIS will be exhibited and submissions sought from the public. Once Infrastructure NSW has responded to any issues raised in submissions the Department will undertake an assessment including how the conditions of consent for the concept development application have been met.
