In January 2017, the Minister for Planning approved the Crows Nest Metro Station. The station will be part of the future Sydney Metro network, specifically the Chatswood to Sydenham section.
Sydney Metro have submitted a Concept State Significant Development Application seeking consent for the broad concept for an Over Station Development above the Crows Nest Metro Station.

The concept proposal does not seek approval for any construction work.
The concept application for the Crows Nest Over Station Development is on public exhibition until 8 February 2019.
The site is also subject to a separate rezoning proposal prepared by the Department of Planning and Environment to amend the existing planning controls in the North Sydney Local Environmental Plan for building height, floor space ratio and minimum non-residential floor space ratio that apply to the Metro sites.
