In January 2017, the Pitt Street Metro Station was approved. The station will be part of the future Sydney Metro network, providing access across the network to the Sydney Central Business District.

Sydney Metro submitted two separate development applications seeking approval for the broad concept for Over Station Developments above the northern and southern entrances to the Pitt Street Metro Station.

The Pitt Street North Over Station Development application seeks concept approval for:

  • a maximum building envelope for a ‘podium and tower’ form with tower height up to approximately 43 storeys and podium height approximately 12 storeys
  • a maximum gross floor area of 50,310m² (including the over station development and station floorspace)
  • two potential land use schemes for the building envelope;
    • a mix of residential accommodation, hotel and office OR
    • a mix of retail space at the ground floor with commercial offices above
  • a maximum of 50 car parking spaces

The Concept Development Application does not seek consent for detailed designs or any construction/physical work.

Pitt Street North concept approved

The Pitt Street North concept development application has been approved subject to conditions based on consultation with the local community, council and other agencies.

The Department carefully considered the community’s submissions, worked with council and took into account their feedback during the assessment process.

A full list of the conditions of consent is available on our Major Projects website.
