Martin Place Metro Station Precinct

Martin Place is one of six new stations for the Sydney Metro line, which extends the new metro rail from Chatswood, under Sydney Harbour, through the Sydney CBD to Bankstown.

In March 2018 a new Sydney Metro Martin Place Precinct, located between Castlereagh and Elizabeth Streets, was approved by the Minister for Planning.

The Precinct will be above the approved Martin Place metro station and have access points to the station.

Macquarie Group submitted an Unsolicited Proposal for two Over Station Developments (OSD) above the northern and southern entrances of the metro station.

Separate development applications for each stage of this project were lodged with and assessed by the department:

The Stage 1 Amending Development Application for the Martin Place Precinct was approved in February 2019 subject to conditions based on consultation with the local community, council and other agencies.

The construction and use of a 39-storey (plus rooftop plant) commercial tower above the northern entrance of the new Martin Place Metro Station has been approved.

The construction and use of a 28 storey (plus rooftop plant) commercial tower with a nine storey podium above the southern entrance of the new Martin Place Metro Station has been approved.
