A proposal to modify the Collector Wind Farm project located on the Cullerin Range, between the Hume Highway and Collector Road will be on exhibition from today for community feedback.

The Department of Planning and Environment is keen to hear the community’s views on the application which seeks to:

  • change site access arrangements
  • change the on-site cable layout
  • change the location of the construction compound and operations and maintenance facility
  • install a 300m underground telecommunications cable
  • allow the maximum blade diameter to increase from 112m to 117m
  • remove specific vegetation clearing limits
  • amend noise limits for wind turbines, to be based on existing background noise levels rather than a fixed maximum limit of 35 decibels.

A spokesperson for the Department of Planning and Environment said the local community always has an opportunity to share their views.

“Community consultation is an integral part of the planning process and the applicant will have to respond to the feedback we receive and this is taken into consideration when we develop our recommendations,” the spokesperson said.

“It’s easy to participate by going online and we encourage everyone to take a look and have their say.”
