The independent Planning Assessment Commission will decide whether or not to approve an application to build and operate a commercial poultry farm near Euroley, in the Narrandera Local Government Area, south west of Griffith.
The Department of Planning and Environment has assessed the application to construct and operate the farm and has recommended that the Commission approve the project, subject to conditions.
A departmental spokesperson said the company ProTen has applied to build and operate a poultry farm housing approximately 3.9 million broiler chickens, across five groups of sheds, to be reared for food.
“The application was put on exhibition in May and June to allow the community to have its say.
“That feedback helped form recommended conditions of consent which include managing impacts associated with noise, dust, odour, traffic and water quality,” the spokesperson said.
The project is expected to generate up to 20 fulltime equivalent jobs.
The Planning Assessment Commission will consider the information presented before making a decision on whether to approve the project or not.
