The Department supports a number of safety campaigns involved in different aspects of building and fire safety. This includes the strengthening of fire safety certification for new and existing buildings.

 

The Department also developed the regulatory frameworks for the retrofitting of fire sprinklers in all existing aged care facilities in NSW. It also expanded the requirement for the mandatory fitting of smoke alarms to caravans and other moveable dwellings.
