Planning for Bardwell Park and Turrella

The Bardwell Park and Turrella Planned Precincts were nominated by the Minister for Planning in June 2017.

Since this time, the Department has worked with Bayside and Canterbury–Bankstown Councils to undertake some early community engagement and carry out preliminary planning investigations.

Based on community feedback, local council strategic planning objectives, and the findings of the preliminary investigations, the Department has recommended a revised planning approach for the Bardwell Park and Turrella areas.

Councils will lead further strategic planning investigations for Bardwell Park and Turrella as part of their comprehensive local environmental plan reviews.

The Department has shared the findings of the Stage 1 planning investigations with Bayside and Canterbury-Bankstown Councils and will continue to support them to inform planning for the area.

Bayside and Canterbury–Bankstown Councils have been awarded $2.5 million in funding each to accelerate the review of their local environmental plans to identify the right places for the right types of housing.
