New spaces to play on the way in NSW

Skilled skaters, budding bikers, and young thrill seekers are among those set to benefit from almost $5 million of the NSW Government’s successful Open Spaces Program.

Minister for Planning and Minister for Homes Anthony Roberts said funding from the latest round of the Places to Play Grant will support the creation of 13 new outdoor spaces for those of all ages and abilities.

“From skate parks and nature playspaces through to mountain bike tracks and even obstacle courses, The NSW Liberal and Nationals Government is investing in facilities we know communities want and need, with a particular focus on supporting our young people living in regional areas,” Mr Roberts said.

“This announcement comes as we celebrate the opening of the Ernest Grant Park, a brand new inclusive playspace for the Albury community. Albury City Council received

$300,000 to build a vibrant new park that features a skate bowl, pump track, new shelters, seating, and an inclusive playspace.”

Member for Albury Justin Clancy said investing in open space has been a long-running priority for the NSW Liberal and Nationals Government, with many projects, coming to fruition in recent months, including the new Ernest Grant Park inclusive playspace.

“Albury City Council has received close to $3.5million from the NSW Government for a range of different open space upgrades for our community, including the Eastern Circuit Park Re-location, Endeavour Park Upgrade and the Albury Riverside Boardwalk and Hovell Tree Park Market Area, which is set to be completed in June this year,” Mr Clancy said.

“These types of projects demonstrate the importance of working in partnership with local government and other stakeholders to deliver public open spaces that promote active, healthy, and social lifestyles for people throughout NSW.”
