The Accelerated Infrastructure Fund (AIF) round 3 is providing $300 million to speed up the delivery of local infrastructure in high-growth areas of NSW. This funding will support the development of housing and create jobs in both urban and regional areas.
Funding will be divided, with up to $180 million allocated for metropolitan projects and up to $120 million for regional projects.
The funding is available for eligible councils, state agencies and utilities to carry out various infrastructure projects, such as roads, stormwater systems, electricity infrastructure, sewerage, and public open spaces. These projects will help facilitate the construction and delivery of new homes.
AIF Round 3 focuses on areas experiencing the highest growth in NSW. The funding is directed towards 18 metropolitan and 23 regional councils that account for 94% of the state’s projected population growth over the next 10 years.
To determine the projects that would receive funding, they were assessed using the mandatory criteria outlined in the program guideline. An independent technical consultant and strategic review panel evaluated the projects before final approval by the Minister for Planning.
Funding for AIF round 3 has been announced, with $295 million being allocated to 41 projects in metropolitan and regional NSW.
