Our objectives

The housing system is complex and the NSW Government cannot achieve the Housing 2041 vision alone. Collaboration with local government, community housing providers, developers, the finance industry and other private sector partners is vital for success.

Over the next 20 years, Housing 2041 will:

Enhance partnerships and cross-sector collaboration

Enhance partnerships and cross-sector collaboration by increasing availability of housing data, evidence and research, and by collaborating to test new ways of living.

Increase support to those in most need

Increase support to those in most need by rejuvenating the social housing portfolio, supporting growth in the community housing sector and increasing the supply of affordable housing.

Ensure more investment and support for housing that is adaptable to changing needs and environments

Ensure more investment and support for housing that is adaptable to changing needs and environments, with government-led residential development being an exemplar of housing design and construction.

Improve alignment of housing with infrastructure and community services for NSW communities

Improve alignment of housing with infrastructure and community services for NSW communities by establishing and implementing strategic planning principles at the state and local level.

Provide additional support for first homebuyers

Provide additional support for first homebuyers and for new housing products that have the potential to increase affordability for those who seek to purchase homes.

Continue support for people in the private rental market

Continue support for people in the private rental market by looking at ways to ensure secure and safe housing.
