To improve safety and support stronger and clearer development decisions across the Alpine Region, the Department is updating the 2003 Geotechnical Policy.

A Consultation Paper with proposed landslide susceptibility mapping and technical policy changes was exhibited from 11 June to 23 July 2026. The Department is now considering all feedback in finalising the policy update. To find out more, visit the NSW Planning Portal.

Alpine Region digital DCP

The Alpine Region Development Control Plan 2025 is now available in a user-friendly web format to help applicants navigate planning controls for the Alpine Region.

The Alpine Region DCP:

  • applies to all land to which Precincts Regional SEPP, Chapter 4 applies.
  • provides detailed provisions to guide development to achieve the aims and objectives of Chapter 4 of the Precincts Regional SEPP
  • includes detailed objectives and controls for ensuring well-designed, quality-built form and development within the Alpine Region.
