The Department welcomes feedback from the community, government agencies and all other stakeholders during the public exhibition period for all major projects. Your feedback helps us better understand the views of the community, which informs our assessment of the project.
The Department has recently released a significant upgrade to our Major Projects website, including a great range of features to help make it easier to stay informed and do business with us.
Projects are currently being migrated to the new website and during this time you may need to look on both websites to find the project you are interested in.

Lendlease Communities, have submitted a request to modify the Calderwood concept plan, seeking approval for additional housing supply.
Cockle Bay
Amended proposed concept plans for Cockle Bay have been lodged with the Department and include a new retail shops, bars and restaurants, along with a commercial office tower up to 195m in height.

The Eastlakes Shopping Centre redevelopment was approved in September 2013. Changes to the approved development’s southern site were also approved in June 2020.

Inland Rail
The Inland Rail is a freight rail line connection between Melbourne and Brisbane. The route will be approximately 1700km in length and include over 1000km of major upgrades and enhancements and 600km of new track via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

Project 28 Pty Ltd lodged a request to modify planning approval previously granted for the Kings Forest Stage 1 project. The modification request sought approval for a revised Koala Plan of Management (KPOM).
The M6 Motorway (previously F6 Extension) program of works is a proposed multi-lane road link extending from the New M5 Motorway at Arncliffe to the Princes Highway at Loftus. The Stage 1 Application was approved in December 2019.

Parramatta Light Rail - Stage 1
The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Parramatta Light Rail – Stage 1 has been received by the Department of Planning and Environment.

Sydney Metro project
Sydney Metro is a new standalone railway which will include 39 metro stations and more than 90km of new metro rail, from Rouse Hill to Bankstown through Sydney’s CBD and from Westmead to Sydney’s CBD.

Tweed Valley Hospital
The new major referral hospital will be constructed on a greenfield site in the Tweed-Byron region. Two State significant development applications for the concept and Stage 1 works as well as Stage 2 main works for construction and operation have now been approved.
