Planned Precincts

New Priority Precincts were announced on 1 June 2017. Priority Precincts provide a planned approach to growth in Sydney, with new homes and jobs located close to public transport, shops and services, while retaining and enhancing a community’s character. The new Priority Precincts include:

• Belmore and Lakemba;
• Burwood, Strathfield and Homebush;
• Campsie and Canterbury;
• Cherrybrook;
• Frenchs Forest;
• Glenfield;
• Leppington Town Centre;
• Anzac Parade;
• Riverwood;
• Schofields Town Centre;
• Seven Hills;
• St Leonards and Crows Nest;
• Telopea;
• Turrella and Bardwell Park;
• Wentworthville; and
• Westmead

Planning for these areas is coordinated by state and local government which helps ensure infrastructure such as schools, parks, community facilities, public transport and road upgrades are delivered to support community needs.

How can I be involved?

We are working closely with the community, councils and other stakeholders to provide a range of opportunities to participate in planning for each precinct. This includes surveys, project updates, social media, public events, face to face meetings and formal submissions.

From June to August 2017 we were out in the community asking locals what they value about their areas, what works well and what could be improved. We collected the community’s feedback through a survey and listening sessions for the following Precincts:

• Bardwell Park and Turrella – Rockdale Town Hall, 448 Princes Hwy
• Burwood, Strathfield and Homebush – Strathfield Library, 65-67 Rochester Street
• Cherrybrook – Gumnut Community Centre, 144 New Line Road
• Frenchs Forest – Galstaun Function Centre, 5 Grattan Crescent
• Leppington Town Centre - Greenway Park Community Centre, Greenway Drive
• Seven Hills – Seven Hills Community Centre, 5 Artillery Crescent
• Schofields Town Centre – Riverstone Neighbourhood Centre Park Street
• Wentworthville and Westmead – Wentworthville Community Centre, 2 Lane Street

Results from the survey and listening sessions will be used to inform our draft precinct plans. Once developed the community will be able to have their say on the plans during a public exhibition process.

We will shortly be asking for feedback on the remaining Priority Precincts.
