The Precinct Support Scheme (PSS) is a $100 million local infrastructure grants program which aims to support urban renewal and sustainable growth in planned precincts by providing, on average, up to $5 million per precinct to local councils and selected agencies. As of July 2019, over $50 million has already been committed to projects in planned precincts.

Projects funded under PSS include:

  • public parks and open space improvements
  • streetscape and public safety improvements
  • local waterway rehabilitation and native revegetation
  • community facilities
  • planning and design

Local councils are responsible for nominating projects for PSS funding, as well as managing all aspects of the project’s delivery. The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment assesses the nominations and manages the PSS program.
