The department has worked closely with the City of Parramatta Council, NSW Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) and the community to rezone Telopea Precinct to support and integrated, vibrant and cohesive community as part of the Communities Plus program.
Community consultation
Feedback from the community and stakeholders has played an important part in developing the plans for the precinct. Public exhibition was held from 13 October 2017 to 24 November 2017 and included face-to-face and online engagement opportunities for the community to provide feedback.
Rezoning for the Telopea Precinct was finalised in October 2018.
Precinct plan
The rezoning of the precinct as part of the Stage 1 Precinct Proposal achieves the LAHC masterplan and leverages the Parramatta Light Rail stop in Telopea, delivering new town centre which is vibrant and accessible. The Telopea Town Centre will host renewed retail and community facilities, new and improved open spaces and up to 4,500 new homes consisting of a mix of affordable, private and social housing.
