A proposal for a large-scale solar farm in Wellington is on public exhibition from today and the community is encouraged to make a submission.
Clay Preshaw, Director of Resource Assessments at the Department of Planning and Environment, said the community can review First Solar’s plans for the 174 megawatt project until 28 January 2018.
"The proposed solar farm and energy storage facility would generate enough sustainable energy to power more than 65,000 homes and would be constructed northeast of Wellington," Mr Preshaw said.
"It’s easy to go online and review the proposal on the Department’s website and provide feedback.
"Alternatively, a copy of the plan can be viewed in person at the Dubbo and Wellington offices of the Dubbo Regional Council.
"We assess all applications on their merits, under clear planning legislation and policies. Considering community feedback is an important part of this process."
