NSW Department of Planning and Environment

Round 2

Accelerated Infrastructure Fund

Round 2 of the AIF is providing $139 million to co-fund and accelerate the delivery of local infrastructure in high-growth areas of Western Sydney. It is supporting construction activity and the release of new homes and employment lands in greenfield areas where councils lead the delivery of local infrastructure.

Round 2 is co-funding and accelerating delivery of 24 local infrastructure projects worth $521 million in council-led precincts in Western Sydney. Round 2 projects will support the development of 65,000 new homes, create up to 2,200 construction jobs and unlock 570 hectares of employment land dedicated to creating more jobs closer to home.

Round 2 comprises high-growth councils, including Blacktown, The Hills, Hawkesbury, Penrith, Liverpool, Camden, Campbelltown, and Wollondilly.

Funding has been allocated according to the anticipated growth in greenfield areas in each local government area, the amount of development that will occur as a result of the funding, and the amount of co-funding the councils can provide. Projects must be able to begin construction within 2 years.

Project nominations were scored in consultation with an expert panel including the department’s former Infrastructure and Place team and Transport for NSW were consulted for relevant projects.
