The NSW Government is committed to delivering well-located homes, where flood risks to residents and businesses are appropriately managed and mitigated.
The Wianamatta South Creek Catchment is changing with projects like the Western Sydney Aerotropolis, Orchard Hills, North West Growth Centre and South West Growth Centre.
We’ve developed the draft Wianamatta South Creek Cumulative Impacts on Flooding Policy to provide landowners, developers, councils, and government agencies clear guidance managing the potential cumulative impacts of development within the floodplain.
The draft policy provides assessment considerations for planning and consent authorities and addresses recommendations from the Wianamatta South Creek Catchment Flood Study: Cumulative Impact Assessment (Advisian, 2023) prepared for Infrastructure NSW.
The policy applies to the identified critical flood areas and vegetation densification areas within the local government areas of Penrith, Blacktown, Liverpool, and Fairfield.
Have your say
The draft policy is now open for public feedback from Monday 21 July, closing 5 pm Monday 18 August 2025. The information received will help shape the final version of the policy and ensure it reflects community needs and priorities.
