The Riverina Murray region sits entirely within the Murray Darling Basin. Located along the Victorian border, it contains vast waterways and river systems and is one of the country’s most productive agricultural regions.

The regional plan acknowledges that Aboriginal people share a unique bond to Country – a bond forged through thousands of years travelling across the region’s lands and waterways for ceremony, trading and seasonal migration.

The Riverina Murray is a prosperous region. Its premium agricultural land allows for a highly diversified economy. Irrigated agriculture remains significant, particularly in the west of the region.

Making it happen – Riverina Murray Regional Plan 2041
The regional plan will be implemented by the Department of Planning and Environment working with councils, state agencies, the Riverina Murray Regional Leadership Executive (RLE) and the community.
