Employment land strategies summarise the economic settings, barriers to growth and opportunities associated with employment land in a particular local government area.
They identify land use and transport planning actions required to meet projected growth and provide for future local jobs.
Guideline
We have written a guideline for local employment land strategies (PDF, 634.7 KB) to help councils prepare employment land strategies as part of their planning frameworks. It sets out a process to help councils prepare strategies and create a robust evidence base to inform land use planning and associated actions.
The guideline is supported by these papers:
- Guide to writing conditions of consent (PDF, 365.3 KB) – provides councils with support on writing actions, the types of actions that can be utilised, and linking the actions to evidence.
- Employment Land Strategy Guideline – Centre planning (PDF, 145.9 KB) – outlines the policy and planning consideration relating to centres in an employment land strategy.
- Employment Land Strategy Guidelines – Precinct Profiles (PDF, 6.3 MB) – provide example precinct profiles for councils that relate to the type of analysis that could be completed for an area.
Councils can also request data packs based on the 2016 Census from the department by emailing [email protected]
