The Department of Planning and Environment has put two proposals from the University of Sydney for new buildings at the Camperdown campus on exhibition for community consultation.

 

The Department of Planning and Environment is keen to hear the community’s views on the State significant applications.

A proposal for a new science research and teaching facility includes:

  • demolition of minor structures, excavation and remediation
  • constructing a new eight level building
  • internal building connections to the existing Carslaw Building on the first and second levels
  • landscaping and minor changes to Eastern Avenue building identification signage
  • upgrading infrastructure, including a new substation in the basement of the Carslaw Building.

 

A proposal for a new administration building includes:

  • demolition and removal of an existing car park and trees, and basement excavation
  • closure of the existing City Road intersection car entry
  • constructing a new five storey building with administration, exhibition and symposium space and a to level basement car park
  • constructing a new car entry and widening of Fisher Road and associated works to Eastern Avenue
  • landscaping and associated infrastructure and services.

A spokesperson for the Department of Planning and Environment said the local community always has an opportunity to share their views.

 

“Community consultation is an integral part of the planning process and the applicant will have to respond to the feedback we receive,” the spokesperson said.

 

“This feedback is taken into consideration when we develop our recommendations.

 

“It’s easy to participate by going online and we encourage everyone to take a look and have their say.”

 

Make a submission or view the Environmental Impact Statements (EIS).

 

Submissions can be made from Thursday, 9 June until Monday, 25 July, 2016.
