The NSW Housing Taskforce is offering a new Post-Consent Support Service to developers. The service is designed to help resolve post-consent and construction delays or challenges. It will provide dedicated assistance to developers facing challenges in progressing their post-consent approvals.
Supporting housing completions
The NSW Government is committed to delivering more homes, in line with the Housing Accord target of 377,000 new homes by July 2029. To support this, we are offering targeted assistance to eligible projects that are facing delays in post-consent.
This service is part of a broader support strategy to remove bottlenecks and advance approved residential developments into the construction phase to accelerate housing delivery.
Developers whose projects meet the criteria set out below are encouraged to contact the NSW Housing Taskforce for assistance.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for support service, the project must:
Development consent
Have a valid development consent for more than 50 homes or more than 20 social or affordable homes and be progressing towards construction or nearing occupation.
Delays or issues
Be experiencing a delay or issue with a local government or state agency that’s preventing construction or occupation from progressing.
Priority will be given to projects that can commence and/or complete quickly and deliver the greatest number of homes per application. Where capacity permits, smaller-scale proposals may also be considered for support.
Your path to support
-
Confirm your development meets the eligibility criteria
Before applying for assistance, check that your project meets the eligibility criteria above. The NSW Housing Taskforce is not focused on providing case management services for matters that do not meet these requirements.
-
Submit a request
If eligible, complete the enquiry form (select Option 3 – ‘request post-consent support’) and provide the required information. Developers will need to provide details of the development and the local government or state agency matter that is delaying development.
-
NSW Housing Taskforce review
Our team will review the information provided to confirm eligibility and understand the nature of the challenge. Further information may be requested.
-
Case manager assigned
A case manager will be assigned to your matter. They will coordinate with you, the relevant council or state agency, and other stakeholders to work towards resolving the issue.
Role of this service
A dedicated case manager will guide each project, coordinating stakeholders to provide timely advice and help resolve issues that move more homes to construction and occupation.
Cases will be managed at a senior level and escalated where necessary. The eligibility criteria may be subject to review and updated depending on demand and resource availability.
The NSW Housing Taskforce does not hold statutory approval powers and cannot make decisions on behalf of consent authorities or agencies.
How to apply for assistance
