The North West Growth Area Special Infrastructure Contribution (SIC) is intended to update the SIC applying to the North West Growth Area detailed in the existing Western Sydney SIC. This ensures the North West SIC aligns with the infrastructure required to support growing communities in the area.

The North West Growth Area Land Use and Infrastructure Implementation Plan identified a different growth rate and new infrastructure needs compared to the existing Western Sydney SIC. This allowed the Department to review the existing SIC and prepare a revised contribution rate to reflect the updated plan and better support the needs of the growing community.

The proposed SIC would provide $1.5 billion over the next 30 years for new and upgraded infrastructure in the North West Growth Area, including:

  • Roads, bridges, intersections – $1.05 billion
  • Public transport infrastructure – $80 million
  • Cycling and pedestrian infrastructure – $4 million
  • Education – $95 million
  • Health – $35 million
  • Emergency services & justice – $7 million
  • Open space and conservation – $69 million
  • Biodiversity – $101 million
  • Planning and delivery – $63 million.
