Terraces 04

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

This flexible design has multi-use spaces, gardens and modular room layouts to allow your home to grow with you.

Terraces 04 by Other Architects x NMBW is a multi-dwelling housing (terrace) design for 3 homes arranged side-by-side. Terraces 04 was a winning design from the NSW Housing Pattern Book Design Competition.

The development is made up of 3 buildings: one at the street, one at the centre and one at the rear of the site. This means the site can be subdivided into 3 equal parts, or 1-bed, 2-bed and 3-bedroom combinations. Outdoor areas between each building provide light, air and a green outlook to each home.

This innovative design reimagines a terrace as a series of flexible rooms that can be rearranged and customised to suit different households and preferences. The front carport can double as a covered dining area or a flexible room, while the rear building can be a teenager’s retreat, studio, home office, or granny flat. An attic bedroom can be added to the core building and a second storey added to the rear building when the budget or site permits.

The base pattern is for 3 homes on a single lot. In new neighbourhoods, the pattern can be used to create up to 7 connected homes.

The compact design maximises landscaped spaces and uses skylights and balconies to bring fresh air and light into the home.

Terraces 02 by Sam Crawford Architects is a multi-dwelling housing (terrace) design with a minimum of 3 homes arranged side-by-side. The 2-storey homes each have their own street frontage, providing an opportunity to interact with the neighbourhood.

A connection to the front and rear gardens makes the compact internal layout feel spacious. The dining, kitchen and living areas flow through the ground floor to create open and multi-functional spaces. Well-positioned skylights allow for more sunlight and fresh air.

The efficient designs fit into a compact footprint to reduce build costs and create space for a biodiverse garden. A studio or garage with rear lane access can be added to deeper sites. Choose from 3 ground-floor layouts, including a Livable Housing Australia (LHA) gold level standard plan that enables multi-generational living. In low- and mid-rise housing areas, an attic bedroom or study with a dormer window can be included.

The base pattern is for 3 homes on a single lot. In new neighbourhoods, the pattern can be adapted to include up to 7 connected homes.

An elegant design with garden apartments on the ground floor and airy, raked ceilings and generous balconies on the first floor.

Manor Homes 01 by Studio Johnston is a manor house design split into four 2- or 3-bedroom apartments, with 2 apartments on the ground floor and 2 on the first floor. The proportions of the design would work well for infill development in residential neighbourhoods. It has the width of a detached house.

The units share some of the characteristics of a detached house, with light, outlook and ventilation from 3 sides. The ground-floor units have large corner gardens with dual orientation. The first-floor units are light-filled with raked ceilings and spacious balconies.

The development can be adjusted to accommodate different budgets and site sizes. For example, the design can accommodate a mix of 2- or 3-bedroom apartments, depending on the depth of your site. All homes are, at minimum, Livable Housing Australia (LHA) silver level. The ground-floor apartments can be adapted to achieve gold level.

Relaxed, double-storey homes with airy interiors and a garden outlook.

Row Homes 01 by SAHA is a multi-dwelling housing design. The design has 4 homes arranged side-by-side, which run perpendicular to the street. When viewed from the street, their narrow frontage appears like a detached house, allowing it to slot neatly into existing residential neighbourhoods.

The design includes flexible internal layouts to suit a variety of households and budgets, including options for one, 2 or 3 bedrooms. The design can be adjusted for deeper sites and sloping land, and there are facade options to suit different climates and neighbourhood characters.

An uplifting and fresh design with living spaces that connect to the garden and central courtyard.

Semis 02 by Sibling Architecture is a dual occupancy design with 2 homes arranged side-by-side. Each home has its own street frontage and colour palette, giving it a distinct identity. Sculptural window canopies provide a modern finish.

The living space flows into a covered outdoor area and large, landscaped garden that can be private or shared between the 2 homes.

The floor plan is compact and affordable. Alternative layouts are available, including options to swap the garage for an extra living space or bedroom. The first floor can also be configured for 2 or 3 bedrooms.
