The Snowy Mountains features a unique alpine landscape, an unmissable destination where visitors from Australia and abroad are drawn year-round to the everchanging seasons and unparalleled outdoor experiences.
The Snowy Mountains Special Activation Precinct Master Plan outlines a vision for the area as a year-round tourist destination with new business opportunities, services and community infrastructure for the people that live, work and visit the region.
The Master Plan was finalised in 2022.
Where are we up to?
The draft Jindabyne Catalyst Precinct Delivery Plan, draft Jindabyne Development Control Plan (DCP) and draft Alpine DCP were exhibited from 17 November 2023 to 7 February 2024. These planning controls align to the vision of the Snowy Mountains Special Activation Precinct Master Plan and guides future development.
The Jindabyne Catalyst Precinct comprises 5 sub-precincts and we worked with the Regional Growth NSW Development Corporation to prepare the Jindabyne Catalyst Precinct Delivery Plan.
The Jindabyne Growth Precinct comprises 7 sub-precincts that will support the increase in visitor and resident populations projected for the 40 years of the master plan.
Snowy Monaro Regional Council worked with us to prepare the Jindabyne DCP.
The Alpine Precinct comprises 12 sub-precincts containing existing lease and licence areas focused on tourism attractions and accommodation. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service helped us prepare the Alpine DCP.
Next steps
We will review the feedback received during the exhibition period and finalise the DCPs and delivery plan by mid-2024.
